Barometers are used to measure atmospheric pressure. Pressure tendency has been used to predict weather for a long time. Often, barometric pressure remains steady for extended periods of time, and it should also be noted that pressure changes may be very small and might not be noticeable. The movable pointer aligned to the needle of the barometer can help to observe a slight movement in the pressure needle.
